Bill Burke and Fred Coon In 1992, at the Encanto Park Folk Festival in Phoenix AZ, I heard a guy playing a tune I had not heard since when learned it from Jerry Jordan at the Folk Festival of the Smokies, in Gatlinburg TN, in 1969. I said, hey, I learned that tune from a banjo player missing a finger. Bill said, “Jerry lives in about 40 miles from me.” Talk about a small world. We hit it off right away and we have been friends and have played together for 30+ years. He continues to be my best friend.
