Live Field Recordings

In the late 1950’s I was learning from family and friends, In the and early 1960’s I began collecting tunes and songs throughout the Appalachian mountain region. I remember knocking on their door, being greeted with a smile, which often was followed by “come on in Fred, I’ll do the best I can for you.” This enabled me to now share with you my magnificent friends. Sadly, they are long gone from this earth. But, here, they live on. Join me in their living rooms in front of their hearth or on their porches and once, in a dance hall. When a tune inspires you, learn it and pass it on. That’s the Appalachian way.
